What Strip and Seal Actually Involves
Stage One – Strip
We apply a commercial-grade stripping solution across the vinyl surface.
This solution chemically breaks down layers of old sealer, polish, and built-up wax. We then use commercial scrubbers to lift the dissolved sealer and remove it completely.
The vinyl underneath is revealed, and the difference is often dramatic.
Stage Two – Clean and Neutralise
Before new sealer goes down, the bare vinyl must be properly cleaned and neutralised.
Any residue from the stripping process has to be removed, otherwise the new sealer will not bond properly.
This is the step many generalist cleaners skip. We do not.
Stage Three – Seal
We apply multiple coats of commercial-grade floor sealer, allowing proper drying time between coats.
Typically, this means four to six coats, depending on the site’s traffic level and the product specification.
The result is a hard, protective finish, often with a clean gloss, that can last twelve to eighteen months before the next strip and seal is required.
The full process takes most of a day for a typical childcare or retail space. The floor also needs several hours of clear time afterwards so the final coat can cure properly.
